About Me

My passion for translation was rekindled when a friend asked if I could translate some documents for a French not-for-profit organisation. It reminded how much I enjoy translating and languages so I eventually decided to give translation a go professionally. In 2011, I embarked on a Masters in Translation in a European Context at Aston University, graduating in 2013. Since then I have been working as a freelance translator with both direct and agencies clients and I haven’t looked back!

Education and qualifications

  • Masters degree (Distinction) in Translation in a European Context from Aston University. My dissertation, (Distinction) examined how French tourist board websites were translated into English.
  • BA (Hons) in French and German from Bradford University, a leading university at the time for ‘modern’ language courses including contemporary society and economics as well as translating and interpreting. My dissertation was on unemployment in Germany post-reunification (1996).
  • As part of my language degree, I completed work placements as a translator and administrator in Paris, France (5 months) and Düsseldorf, Germany (6 months). After graduating, I returned to both France and Germany to work and live, again completing work placements this time in Ingelheim am Rhein, Germany (5 months) and Gentilly (nr Paris), France (6 months).
